MHF's Work Fit shortlisted for Award 

One of the Forum's pioneering initiatives to improve health at work has been shortlisted for a prestigious Department of Health award.

The Work Fit project, an online lifestyle improvement programme targeting men developed by the Forum, BT, Roche and the National Obesity Forum, joins a shortlist of just four projects for the prestigious NHS Live Award category in the DH Health and Social Care Awards 2006.

A judging panel chaired by Harry Cayton, the department's national director for patients and the public selected Work Fit from some 1300 entries.

The NHS Live Award winner will be selected in a different way to all the other categories in the event. Delegates attending the NHS Live National Event on 26 February will cast their votes during the event itself. Videos of the finalists' projects will be shown during the ceremony, and the audience, voting on interactive keypads, will then decide on a winner at the end of the evening.

Broadcaster Jeremy Vine will host the ceremony which will be attended by the secretary of state for health, Patricia Hewitt. The audience will consist of national finalists and their guests, ministers, representatives from award category endorsers and from across the health and social care arena.
