My role

What's the perfect resource for Men's Health Week?

It's 'A Question of Health'. The central resource to help you in your work for Men’s Health Week is the latest in our popular line of mini-manuals. A Question of Health will provide a practical step-by-step guide for men to get them moving and playing sport. It's available to order now.

Written by MHF president Dr Ian Banks, the 32 page A5 booklet looks at the health benefits of exercise, the basics of fitness and how to get active again - especially if you’ve been out of the game a while. Fun exercise ideas include walking, cycling, running, gardening, swimming, sport and joining a gym.

It’s full of tips to keep the reluctant male on track when the initial enthusiasm flags - a key moment for starting over exercisers - and includes sections on avoiding injury and exercising with a disability.

Contents in detail:

  • The first big question - Are you and your mates up for it?
  • The male body as a machine
  • So what’s in it for you?
  • So you want to get fit?
  • How much? How often? How hard?
  • What to eat
  • Exercise basics
  • Some exercise ideas
  • Getting used to the idea
  • Setting goals
  • Disabled?

This mini manual is the perfect resource to support a wide range of activity during NMHW and afterwards.

The Question of Health mini manual is the first MHF publication to feature Change4Life branding. Change4Life is a society-wide movement that aims to prevent people from becoming overweight by encouraging them to eat well and move more:
