During the autumn, the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) will be consulting on the safety and efficacy of two procedures used in the care of the prostate.
As part of its Interventional Procedures Programme (IPP), High-intensity focused ultrasound for prostate cancer and Secondary transperineal cryotherapy for carcinoma of the prostate are out for discusssion from 26 October to 23 November.
Silvia Collard of NICE's Patient Involvement Unit told MHF: 'We would very much welcome comments on the provisional recommendations, from a patient perspective, from your members.'
NICE welcomes responses from individual patients, carers and patient organisations. Following the consultation and consideration by the Interventional Procedures Advisory Committee, NICE will publish guidance on whether the procedures work well enough and are safe enough for use in the NHS.
