Malehealth website updated for 2005

Malehealth, the Men's Health Forum's 'consumer' site providing health information for the man in the street has had its core disease information sections fully updated for 2005.

All 23 sections of the malehealth.co.uk's A-Z of Health have been updated with the latest stats, facts and information on treatments. At the same time all the links both in this section and in the Second Opinion section have also been updated making malehealth one of the most up-to-date health sites on the web. The core work on the updates was carried out by Susan Aldridge, a medical writer whose work appears in Focus, Nature Biotechnology, healthandage.com and many other publications and websites. Her new book Use Your Brain To Beat Addition is published in June.

Site editor Jim Pollard said: 'Susan has done an excellent job for us.

'The two main problems with using the net for health information are knowing whether it's reliable and knowing whether it's up-to-date. We're backed by the MHF, partially-funded by the NHS and acclaimed by the British Medical Association and the Royal Society of Medicine so users have always known they could trust us. But now I'm really pleased to be able to say that we are also bang up-to-date - among the most up-to-date sources of health information you can find anywhere.'

MHF director Peter Baker joined the Forum's president Ian Banks and websites' editor Jim Pollard to call on all supporters of the MHF to spread the word about the site. He said: 'there are many, many health web sites out there. It's vital that when men do seek health information, the websites to which they turn are reliable. Malehealth is exactly that. Members of the MHF and non-members alike, please tell men in your network about the site, email them with the details and put links on your own websites.

'The more users - and most importantly the more registered users - the site has, the easier it is to secure funding.'
