Premier League backs Men's Health Week

On the eve of the World Cup, the English Premier League has announced its backing for another international event, Men's Health Week.

Richard ScudamoreChief Executive Richard Scudamore, right, said: 'The Premier League is very happy to support Men’s Health Week. With the New Football Pools we developed the Premier League Health initiative and we have seen first-hand how beneficial the work of the Men’s Health Forum can be.

'Using the power of football our clubs have been busy working with the Forum to engage men with their local health services. Their advice has been invaluable as we offer men the chance to make longer term lifestyle changes.'

Football Replay, an initiative to help the over 35s get back into football kicks off during Men's Health Week.

Scudamore continued: 'Already this past season thousands of men have been coming into clubs to have assessments on their health. From the screenings they are working on personal programmes, whether that is something as simple as parking their car further out and walking to the ground through to taking part in weekly sporting classes with health trainers based at the clubs.

'Many clubs will be running specific events during Men’s Health Week and we hope that the exertions of the 2010 FIFA World Cup will encourage many men to see how they can change their lifestyle for the better.'

Great Idea But.....

I contacted my local centre in Luton and there is not enough interest so they have added my name to a database and will let me know when they have enough people.
