Men's Health training with Jo McCullagh

In partnership with the Royal Society for Public Health, the MHF is behind a new training initiative which begins in London in May. A second date has now been added in June.

Jo McCulloghA special workshop on men's health has been developed by mens' health expert Jo McCullagh BSc MPhil. Currently the Tobacco Control Programme Manager for Cheshire and Merseyside and previously health promotion specialist at NHS Sefton, Jo, right, has worked in the public health for 17 years.

She has helped develop a number of health improvement initiatives to facilitate men’s access to information, empower them to be health aware and access health and leisure services, in order to improve key lifestyle behaviours. Her new workshop will help you do the same.

Developed to coincide with Men’s Health Week in June, a complimentary copy of the new Men’s Health Forum mini manual on physical activity A Question of Health will be provided to all delegates.

The one-day course will be of value to all frontline staff working who have a remit to encourage males to improve and maintain good health. The 26 May 2010 course is now fully-booked. A second date has been added: 18 June.

Objectives

  • To increase awareness of: the main health problems affecting men; lifestyle factors, which influence men’s health; and barriers men face in using health services.
  • To identify appropriate ways to engage men in healthy lifestyle initiatives and increase male service access in order to reduce existing gender health inequalities.
