MHF welcomes MPs' vote on abortion

The Forum has welcomed the decision of MPs to maintain the current law on abortion permitting a termination for up to 24-weeks after conception.

'MPs have made a commonsense decision by leaving the 24 week time limit abortion unchanged,' said MHF CEO Peter Baker. 'The emotional arguments of those pressing for more restrictions flew in the face of the scientific and medical evidence and would have placed the small proportion of women needing abortions after 20 or 22 weeks in a desperate position.'
