MHF shows how work can make men healthier

The MHF has submitted its evidence to Dame Carol Black's review of the health of Britain's working age population.

There are eight key questions that the review hopes to answer. The Forum's response concentrates on the first: 'how can we keep working age people healthy and how can the workplace be used to promote health?'

The Forum stresses the importance of the gender-duty being enforced and argues that, because men have generally poorer health than women and are less likely to use other health services, workplace schemes which target men specifically could have the biggest impact in making the workforce healthier. The submission cites in evidence the Forum's highly successful Work-Fit programme and other initiatives including a prostate health awareness programme run by the MHF in the West Midlands and its study of men and indigestion.
